Presentations at European music therapy conference

8-12 June 2022, researchers and practitioners from across the world gathered in Edinburgh, Scotland, for the 12th European music therapy conference. Homeside was well represented with several presentations.

The international team had a roundtable with the title “COVID-19: Diffivult disturbances or new possibilities?” In this roundtable the researchers shared experiences of conducting a clinical trial during the covid pandemic. Both challenges and possibilities were highlighted. Participating team members were Anna Bukowska (PL), Helen Odell-Miller, Jodie Bloska, Sarah Crabtree (UK), Carina Petrowitz, Thomas Wosh (GER), Karette Stensæth and Kjersti Johansson (NOR).

The Norwegian team presented a subproject inspired by the theme of the conference: “Please disturb”. Inspired by this, the researchers have explored what types and levels of disruptions are present during a clinical trial like Homeside. The presentation also raised how such disruptions affect the researchers themselves, and how to deal with them.

Another subproject that was presented was the “Song collective”. Beatrix van Doorn (NOR), Libby Flynn and Phoebe Stretton-Smith (AUS) are the researchers in the project.
