Presentation at Nordic music therapy conference

The 10th Nordic Music Therapy Conference was held in Helsinki, Finland, on 28th – 30th of April 2022. The title of the conference was Music therapy – Adapting approaches for health.

Professor Thomas Wosch (Germany) presented the paper HOMESIDE – Adapting music therapy in dementia care for indirect music therapy in home-based informal dementia care and for online-provision to meet COVID-19 demands on behalf of the Homeside team. The presentation gave an update of the progress of the study, with a special focus on adaptions to the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic. Prof. Wosch spoke about both challenges and possibilities of conducting online music interventions with persons with dementia and their informal caregivers.

PhD student Kristi Stedje (Norway) presented her ongoing PhD project in the paper: You, me, music: how may shared music experiences influence relationship quality in couples living with dementia? Kristi presented preliminary findings from a mixed methods case study, and discussed possibilities in using music and music therapy as part of a couple-centered approach to dementia care.
