Exploring the impact of a caregiver-delivered indirect music therapy intervention on quality of life for caregivers of people with dementia: a mixed-methods study

Nina Wollersberger, PhD Student

An interim investigation within the Homeside research study, this PhD project will examine the impact of the caregiver-delivered music intervention on quality of life for the caregiver of the person living with dementia. Seeking to address the gap in the literature on wellbeing for this population, the study will explore how the music intervention addresses dimensions of quality of life for the caregiver. By framing the music intervention in the newly emerging field of indirect music therapy practice, implications for this area of practice in supporting caregiver quality of life will be discussed. The researcher will also serve as a music interventionist for the UK arm of the study, providing a unique perspective alongside those of people living with dementia, caregivers and music therapists represented in the study.
